How we’re going to transform you into a more musical & connected dancer
Session 1
Finding your independence as a dancer (fundamental technique)
Here’s what we know for sure: to connect with your partner, you need to connect with yourself first.
We need to make sure you’re creating your dancing on solid foundations. We’ll start our 2-days together with a deep individual technique session, where we’ll refine your linear and circular movements.
We’ll help you develop precise body awareness so that you are able to “self-correct” when you are dancing with a partner: the goal is to help you find a good posture throughout the dance and keep a comfortable embrace.
Highlights:
- Finding your own correct posture so you can play more with steps and decorations when you’re dancing
- Walking powerfully and with control in the close embrace
- Understanding how small changes in your dissociation technique will massively help you stay grounded and balanced throughout the dance
Session 2
Develop your ability to connect with anyone (even people you don’t know)
Have you ever wondered if you’re communicating clearly enough in the tango embrace?
If yes, this session is for you! We will teach you the tools you need to use to communicate clearly in the close and open embrace, whether you’re a leader or a follower. That way you won’t be left wondering if you’re “getting it right” when you’re dancing.
Highlights:
- How to use subtle signals to indicate direction, speed and power
- The points of connection in the close and embrace that help you communicate with ANY partner you’re dancing with
- How the follower can communicate what she needs in the embrace to take space, influence the musicality, and express herself more
Session 3
How to architecture your dancing (what to do when in the music)
In this session, we show you how to connect your movements to the music.
We show you simple ways to architecture your dancing based on the phrasing, moments, and layers in the music. We explore what to do when in the music, and how to combine linear and circular movements to add contrast to your dancing.
Highlights:
- How to architecture your dancing on the musical phrase
- How to express the different instruments of the orchestra: how to switch from melody to rhythm, and back
- How to play a role, as a follower, in structuring the dance
- How to play with the rhythm: Dancing on the beat or not dancing on the beat
Followed by: Guided practica to practice with new partners, and get any additional questions answered.
Session 4
The 3 styles of tango music & what they mean for your dancing
In this session, we look at the 3 styles of tango music so that you never feel that you’re “boring” when you’re dancing: we give you easy guidelines to adapt your embrace and technique to the different styles of music. This will help you decide which layer of the music you want to dance to.
Our goal is to help you connect with your partner beyond the physical skills of leading and following, and do so through the music.
Highlights:
- The 3 styles of tango music and what it means for you as a dancer: did you know that there are 3 styles of tango music we dance to, the Old Guard, the Milonguero style and tango Salon? We show you how each style demands a different type of embrace, movements, and quality of dancing from you.
- What to do when in the music: we help you recognize the phrasing of the music and identify what movement to do when, in order to be in the flow of the song
- Choosing which layer of the music to dance to: we help you hear the different layers of tango music, how the most influential orchestras use them, and decide how you want to express them - whether you are a leader or a follower
Session 5
The different styles of decorations for leaders & followers (and how to use them)
In this session, we make your movements feel fluid and organic by connecting the upper body to your embrace. This helps you create the interesting movements of tango, like the sacadas and the boleos, where so much is depending on that upper/lower body connection.
Whether you are a leader or a follower, we show you how to add decorations that work with the music. Our goal is to help you find the little tweaks that make your tango movements more creative and more unique. So that you can let go of self-judgement and enjoy when the dancing becomes more playful.
Highlights:
- How to add decorations to standard movements
- Leaders decorate too: how? when?
- From clunky to smooth: what makes a decoration flow in the dance
- The different types of decorations: How to decorate differently depending on the changes in the music
Followed by: Guided practica to practice with new partners, and get any additional questions answered.

"Throughout covid, I lost a lot of my energy, my technique... so I was really looking forward to be re-grounded in tango again. Taking me step by step through the technicalities, the basics, all the way back to the move & the musicality. For me, it was almost a rebirth of tango."
- Meredith & Mosta

Before, I always thought "I have to follow" and my dancing partner tells me what to do, and then suddenly I was like "wow, I can do things, i can put impulses... that was so great...that was like opening everything for me, and now I am so passionate, this is my great passion of life, now"
Annette

“I really wanted to get better. I was nervous about being the worst dancer there. But as soon as I got here, it was brilliant. Now, I have a lot more confidence in my dancing. I am in the right frame of mind when I am invited to dance”
- Ali Maxwell

"Before, I lacked confidence.
